Measuring Risk Perceptions & Behavior

Our panel survey querying individual risk perceptions and behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic is being distributed to residents in six states: Massachusetts, Louisiana, Colorado, Iowa, Washington, and Michigan across three time points (May/June, August, October 2020) . Survey data will provide critical insights into citizen compliance with COVID-19 risk mitigation strategies as well as risk and policy perceptions over time.

Tracking COVID-19 Policy

In conjunction with our panel survey, we are studying state and local COVID-19 policy. Specifically, we are scraping government websites of six states (Massachusetts, Iowa, Louisiana, Colorado, Washington, Michigan) to gather data on subnational COVID-19 policy. These data will allow us to track important changes in COVID-19 policy across time as states continue to reopen.

Advising Policymakers

Data derived from our survey can directly inform COVID-19 mitigation policy. Our team is developing a series of technical reports to summarize key survey findings to provide context and necessary data to policymakers. Technical reports, which will be posted on our website in near-real-time, will provide important insights into how individuals risk perceptions and behaviors change over time.
